Rise Against “Hero Of War”

Directors:  Meiert Avis Jason Lehel & Chris Ledoux

Shot in back in 2009, when it seemed like the  Great Islamic War was going to be over soon.

The video is about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, amongst other things.

Rise Against explain the video:

Hero Of War” is the story of one soldier, not all soldiers, as he battles not just the war around him, but the war that rages within. Inspired by true events, we were given the choice to either document the tribulations of these times as they unfold around us, or ignore them.

To ignore these problems, in our opinion, is letting down the brave men and women who risk everything. “Hero Of War” is our attempt to lift the stigma that surrounds everything from the skyrocketing suicide rate of troops, torture, internal sexual abuse, an under-funded VA, and the growing number of military personnel fighting Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as they return home.

We hope this song and this video help the simmering dialogue about these problems evolve into a rolling boil.

There is a passionate ongoing dialogue in the comments on Youtube, often from servicemen and their families.

There doesn’t generally seem to be much debate in the US, outside of the Ron Paul revolution.

Somehow the peace movement and the left wing got all “dissociated”.

Post traumatic stress disorder, there’s no other explanation for the general lack of affect.

So let’s all paint our faces white.

And surrender ….. to Katy Perry’s “Part of Me”.

When I see stuff like this I think of the stories of selling your soul at the crossroads.
Maybe Robert Johnson got a reasonable deal, but Old Nick seems to have got the best of Katy Perry, at least with this video.

She is a talented singer, underneath all the dressing.

Jason Lehel’s feature film production company site is well worth checking out and investing in, he directed most of the best scenes in the video.

Co-directing? Sometimes it works out well, other times it feels a bit strange.

In this case we had three directors and it felt good.  The Orang Utan said: “two is better than one”.

I say three is better than two.
